Nut Butter Green Smoothie

Nothing says health kick like starting your day with a refreshing green smoothie.

For many of us, quarantine started off with a little extra indulgences here and there (hey, we all deserved it) but we also hit a point of needing those healthier recipes to get us back on track. This recipe is the perfect one to do just that!

This green smoothie is a great way to start your morning and can be easily prepped the night before. Grab a quart size freezer ziploc bag and place your spinach and banana (peeled and cut into slices) into it. Close the bag and place it in the freezer to freeze overnight. If you’re looking for that extra prep step to save yourself time in the morning, pull your blender out onto your counter and combine your nut butter, yogurt and almond milk into the blender container while leaving your blender base on the counter so it’s ready for the morning. Place the lid on top of the container to seal and place it in the refrigerator overnight.

In the morning, simply pull out your pre-filled blender and quart bag from the freezer. Dump your frozen spinach and banana into the blender with the other ingredients and blend on high until no spinach chunks remain.

If you like your smoothies a little more frozen, feel free to add ice cubes to the blender as well. If you’re a morning workout person, this smoothie also makes for a great post-workout breakfast or snack. You can add your favorite protein powder to this smoothie and increase the almond milk to ½ cup or until you achieve your desired thickness.

You can also double this recipe if making for more than one person or if you want a little extra green smoothie in your life. Enjoy!
